Directly relevant obligations and commitments

  • Where export, re-export is to, or import is from, a State not a Party to the present Convention, comparable documentation issued by the competent authorities in that State which substantially conforms with the requirements of the present Convention for permits and certificates may be accepted in lieu thereof by any Party: CITES Article X
  • Permits and certificates issued by non-Party States not be accepted by Parties unless they contain, inter alia, in the case of export of specimens of a species included in Appendix I or II, certification to the effect that the competent scientific institution has advised that the export will not be detrimental to the survival of the species: CITES Resolution 9.5 (Rev CoP13) (a) (iv)
