Operational Objective 3.2 of the Ramsar Strategic Plan 2003-2008 (contained in the Annex) is to ‘Ensure the conservation and wise use of peatlands as a demonstration of the ecosystem-based approach under the Convention.’

The fields of cooperation include, but are not limited to irrigation, hydro-power, navigation, flood control, fisheries, timber floating, recreation and tourism. This obligation is duplicated in the Management and Cooperation sections of the Inland Waters module.
