Obligations and commitments

  • Prepare periodic reports on its implementation of the CITES Convention: CITES Article VIII, 7
  • Submit annual reports required by CITES Article VIII, 7 in accordance with the Guidelines for the preparation and submission of CITES annual reports: CITES Resolution 11.17 (Rev CoP13)
  • Submit biennial reports required by CITES Article VIII, 8 in accordance with the Biennial report format: CITES Resolution 11.17 (Rev CoP13)
  • Submit biennial reports covering the two year periods beginning with the period from 1 January 2003 to 31 December 2004: CITES Resolution 11.17 (Rev CoP13)
  • Parties with multiple Management Authorities to submit coordinated annual and biennial reports: CITES Resolution 11.17 (Rev CoP13)
  • Parties that are members of regional trade agreements to include in annual reports information on trade in specimens of species with other member States of the regional trade agreement: CITES Resolution 11.17 (Rev CoP13)
  • Consider whether the preparation of its statistical and implementation reports could be computerized and submitted in electronic format: CITES Resolution 11.17 (Rev CoP13)
  • Seek assistance from Secretariat if experiencing problems with the regular preparation and submission of annual and biennial reports: CITES Resolution 11.17 (Rev CoP13)
  • Consult with other Parties and the Secretariat when developing computer programmes for licensing and reporting trade, in order to ensure optimal compatibility of systems: CITES Resolution 11.17 (Rev CoP13)
  • Provide data in CITES annual reports on number of live specimens of animals per shipment and the mortalities in transport of species listed in the CITES Appendices: CITES Resolution 10.21
  • Every 3 years EU Members to report to the EU Commission on the implementation of national provisions taken with respect to indigenous Birds: EU Birds, Article 12 SEE COMMENTARY 1
  • Each year EU Members to report to the EU Commission on derogations from the provisions of Articles 5, 6, 7 and 8: EU Birds, Article 9 SEE COMMENTARY 2
  • Every six years EU Members to report on the implementation of the measures taken under the Habitats Directive: EU Habitat, Article 17 SEE COMMENTARY 3
  • Every two years, EU Members to report to the EU Commission on derogations from the provisions of Articles 12, 13, 14 and 15 (a) and (b): EU Habitat, Article 16
  • Every year EU Members to communicate to the EU Commission information required for drawing up the reports referred to in Article VIII.7 (a) of CITES: EU Regulation 338-97, Article 15 (4a)
