The contents of this website are given as a free service to the user, and intended as a guide for the coherent and integrated implementation at regional, national and local levels of the obligations arising from biodiversity-related agreements and other agreements of relevance to the TEMATEA modules.
The word 'obligation' as used throughout this website is not confined to obligations listed under the said agreements for which non-compliance would result in some form of legal sanction as defined within each agreement. The term is used rather to refer to activities that Parties to each agreement are expected to carry out in order to fulfill the objectives of each agreement.
The content of this website has not been endorsed in any shape, way or form by the MEAs , but all efforts have been made to ensure that the analysis of the MEA texts available on this website are an accurate reflection of the related decisions, recommendations and/or relevant documents. This website and database should in no way be relied upon as legal advice for Parties regarding their obligations under each convention. The simplified and the logical framework of the TEMATEA modules is meant to facilitate implementation and does not replace legal commitments. Independent legal advice should always be sought when carrying out a full analysis of the activities applicable to each country.

The designation of geographical entities in this website do not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever on the part of UNEP or IUCN concerning the legal status of any country, territory or area, or of its authorities, or concerning the delimitation of its frontiers and boundaries.
