CBD Decision VII/29, 2 CBD Decision VII/29, Annex: The provision in paragraph 2 intends to ensure cross-referencing of the programme of work on technology transfer with other CBD work programmes, including the inland water one. This is relevant here for programme element 1 on technology assessments. Operational target 1.1 envisages for technology needs assessments to be conducted, with the participation of stakeholders; operational target 1.3 for information on methodologies for the assessment of technology being widely available; operational target 2.2 for opportunities to establish or strengthen national information systems for technology transfer and cooperation being identified; operational target 2.3 for national information systems for technology transfer and cooperation established or strengthened; and operational target 4.1 for technical, scientific, institutional and administrative capacity being adequate for national technology assessments.

CBD Decision VII/29, 2 CBD Decision VII/29, 3 CBD Decision VII/29, Annex: The provision in paragraph 3 invites Parties to carry out the activities of the programme of work on technology transfer up to COP 8 as a first phase of implementing the programme of work.

UNFCCC Decision 4/CP.7, Annex: This refers to paragraph 5 and is directed at Parties other than developed country Parties, particularly developed country Parties, and other developed Parties not included in Annex II. Results are to be made available through the national communications and other related national reports and channels (e.g. technology information clearing houses). UNFCCC Article 4.5 refers to technology transfer. See also the adaptation section of the Biodiversity and Climate Change module.
