The contents of this website are intended as a guide for coherent and integrated implementation at national and local levels of the obligations arising from biodiversity-related agreements and other agreements of relevance to the modules. Each module provides a high level of analysis based on a thorough examination of relevant provisions and decisions, resolutions and recommendations of the decision-making bodies of said agreements.
The word 'obligation' as used throughout the website is not confined to obligations listed under the said agreements for which non-compliance would result in some form of legal sanction as defined within each agreement. The term is used rather to refer to activities that Parties to each agreement are expected to carry out in order to fulfill the objectives of each agreement.
This website and database should in no way be relied upon as legal advice for Parties regarding their obligations under each convention. Independent legal advice should always be sought when carrying out a full analysis of the activities applicable to each country.
